Our Story
Improving at every try
Equestrian sports continue to grow in Puerto Rico and the non-profit organization, Barriler@s, Inc, was incorporated on January 17, 2023. We became an international affiliate of the US National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) on January 1, 2023.
Our story begins at the end of 2022 at Hacienda Siesta Alegre, Rio Grande, with the support of Greg Jackson and Ferdinand Morales, where a group of more than 15 people met to shape a non-profit organization. We come together as a community to provide a healthy venue and environment for all of our riders to compete. Our primary goal is to build a community of cooperation, friendly competition, team building, fun, and loving support for our members and our animals.
Our organization is for everyone, ages five (5) and up, and all levels of experience (from novice to aspiring pro). Although the sport of barrel racing is primarily focused on female participation in the professional environment in the United States, the NBHA, like us, opens its doors to everyone. It is a wonderful sport for the family and the community. Our riders are focused on the connection, health, care, and ability of their horses and themselves.

In the future, we look forward to expanding our membership, our competition networks, our local and international connections, and adding new competitive classes around our mission to grow a healthy and happy community for our riders and horses.
Thank you to all who support us, to our Puerto Rican cowboys who are the ones who instruct us and include us in their facilities and events, to the parents and relatives of our participants who are the great fans and sacrifice for their children and their animals, and to all government agencies that provide us with the support of instructing us and contributing to our healthy development.

Our Mission
The mission of Barriler@s, Inc. of Puerto Rico, in parallel to the mission of the National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA), is to be outstanding examples that working together is the success and life of the sport and the agricultural industry.
We work with Puerto Rican cowboys and the community to promote and expand the sport of rodeo through barrel racing and gymkhana using a divisional format that includes riders of various skill levels and equines of any breed.
Our Vision
The vision of the NBHA is "to be the leading barrel racing association in the world." We are proud to be part of an association so committed to its members, its animals, and multicultural inclusion. We aspire to be international ambassadors for the NBHA to invite and support Latin American countries among others. One of our goals is to resume highly organized activities in Puerto Rico that encourage the collaboration and participation of various countries.
Barriler@s, Inc's vision is to stand out as an example of international leaders fostering multicultural collaboration and participation, supporting agricultural education through community collaboration, and offering a family network that encourages all riders of any age and level of experience in barrel racing and rodeo activities, while providing a safe, enriching, fun, and bonding space where we can share knowledge, encourage, and build character through activities that foster healthy competition and education.
